Volunteer!
Ending hunger in America depends on the volunteer work of literally
millions of Americans who know that they can make a difference.
There are as many different ways to volunteer, as there are individuals
and communities across this country.
Whether you serve dinner at a Kids Café, sort boxes of cereal
in our warehouse, give to a canned food drive, or glean fresh vegetables
from a local farm, your commitment of time and energy makes a real
difference in the lives of those who need help and allows us to
succeed in our mission to feed the poor and hungry in the Lowcountry.
Ways to Get Involved include the following:
- Sort/repackage food for use at food pantries, soup kitchens, and other hunger-relief programs
- Assist in the administrative office with mailings, faxing, phone calling, proofreading, etc.
- Conduct workshops on nutrition to our grassroots network of hunger relief agencies
- Work with businesses in the community to encourage them to donate to the Food Bank. As a volunteer, your efforts are particularly meaningful and persuasive
- Organize a food drive or a fundraiser for the Lowcountry Food Bank
- Do a learning-service project with a youth group and have them learn about hunger issues and volunteer at the Food Bank
To get involved as a volunteer, call the Lowcountry
Food Bank at (843) 747-8146.
