Hunger Action Month 2009
Throughout the month of September, The Lowcountry Food Bank will join Feeding America and their network of more than 200 food banks for Hunger Action Month by hosting a series of events aimed at fighting hunger in the ten coastal counties of South Carolina. Hunger Action Month is part of a nationwide effort to motivate local action to end hunger.
The 10 coastal counties of South Carolina have experienced an increase in the number of working families who are turning to hunger relief agencies to make ends meet. As more and more families struggle to pay for rising costs of energy and other essentials, money left over at the end of the week for food is scarce.
Hunger Action Month will enable community leaders, businesses and families to join in the fight against hunger by raising awareness of the food crisis locally and nationwide. Together, a huge difference can be made. Below you will find ways to join in this cause and become an vital part to making a change!

Skip A Lunch Feed A Bunch, September 1, 2009 Kick Off
Please join the Lowcountry Food Bank in the fight against hunger in coastal South Carolina! Here is a chance to get your business or group involved. On September 1, skip lunch and donate what you would spend on lunch to the Lowcountry Food Bank. Participation is welcome on any day in September. The Lowcountry Food Bank's goal is to create 50,000 meals through this exciting campaign. It should be easy to do: $1 creates 10 meals. See below for simple steps to get involved:
1) Sign your group or organization up to participate. Each person will be asked to donate the equivalent of what they
would normally spend on lunch to the food bank.
2) Designate one person from your group to be the Hunger Champion, the contact person who will motivate individuals to participate and distribute information.
3) Download the registration form to fill out. A flyer is available to download as well.
