
Childhood Hunger Programs
The Lowcountry Food Bank is committed to our End Childhood Hunger Campaign throughout our 10 county service area. Thanks to tremendous community support, the following childhood hunger programs are making a difference in the lives of children.
Breakfast in the Classroom
Students in Charleston County now have access to nutritious breakfast meals throughout the school year. The Lowcountry Food Bank is honored to promote Breakfast in the Classroom by partnering with Charleston County School District and the Walmart Foundation. More than 6,000 students in our community have access to the free breakfast program. Read more>>>
Kids Cafe
Through the Lowcountry Food Bank's Kids Cafe program, more than 164,000 meals will be served to 1,031 chldren in the 2012/2013 school year. Kids Cafe provides an afterschool meal and academic and life skills, mentoring and development in environments that are accessible and safe for at-risk children in our community. Kids Cafe is one of the largest charitable meal service programs in the country, providing free prepared meals and nutrition education to food insecure children. BackPack Buddies
The Lowcountry Food Bank's BackPack Buddies program attacks the issue of weekend hunger for children in our community. In 2012, 88,000 backpacks were distributed to 2,900 children at 46 school sties throughout the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina. One child can be sponsored for the entire school year for $150.00. Read more about the BackPack Buddies program and how you can get involved! School Pantry
School Pantry is a national program of Feeding America--The Nation's Food Bank Network, that provides guidance and support to over 200 food banks nationwide. The mission of the School Pantry Progam is to help alleviate child hunger through the provisions of food to children and their families at school. The Lowcountry Food Bank is currently serving over 400 families every month through the School Pantry Progam and continues to need volunteer support!
Summer Food Program
The mission of the Summer Food Program is to meet the needs of hungry children in the summer by providing them with nutritious meals and snacks when they do not have access to free or reduced price school meals. The Program is a national program of Feeding America--The Nation's Food Bank Network, that provides guidance and support to over 200 food banks nationwide. Stay tuned for our 2013 summer site locations and for ways you can get involved!

Find a Sunoco near you and help fight hunger! The Lowcountry Food Bank is honored to partner with Sunoco for their Caffeinate Charleston campaign. Visit one of their Sunoco APlus locations in our service area and purchase a cup of "Lowcountry Blend." By buying a cup, you will be giving a cup to the Lowcountry Food Bank!
TJ's Million Meal Mission
WEZL's very own TJ Phillips has set a goal to raise one million meals in 2013! A longtime supporter of the LCFB, TJ is a champion of our fight to end hunger in the lowcountry. Please read more about his challenge and see ways you can get involved!
