Lowcountry Food Bank

On Saturday, May 10, the LCFB will once again join forces with the National Association of Letter carriers, the U.S. Postal Service, and the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association to Stamp Out Hunger for the largest one-day national food drive of the year!

It's easy to participate! Simply leave non-perishable food donations in or near your mailbox on Saturday, May 10, and your friendly letter carrier will pick them up. If every household in the tri-county area donated just one canned good, the LCFB will have over 400,000 pounds of food to serve to our community!  And not to worry if you're out of town on May 10 - take part in our Virtual Food Drive!

Now, more than ever, the LCFB needs your help to continue feeding the hungry in the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina, and the Stamp out Hunger food drive could not come at a better time of year. Summer is the most difficult time of the year for many food insecure families; children are out of school, electric bills run high, and gas prices continue to increase. Food collected during the drive helps the LCFB meet the increase in demand.

Stamp Out Hunger is the nation's largest single-day food drive. In 2013, letter carriers proudly collected more than 70 million pounds of food nationally, raising the total amount of donations picked up over the history of the drive to more than 1.2 billion pounds. Nearly 130,000 pounds of food was collected last year and donated to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
Thank you for supporting the LCFB's largest food drive of the year!

For more information, and to learn how to volunteer at your local post office for the event, please contact Autumn McCarver at 843-747-8146 ext. 120.
